As a Country Trade and Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting Country management in ensuring that all Local Businesses conduct their activities in line with ABB Trade policies and guidelines, as well as to drive and coordinate the local implementation of ABB`s Global Trade Program. Reporting to Country Finance Manager, key focus is the oversight of compliance with all applicable customs, sanctions, and export control regulations and to regularly update local management and Global Trade Compliance on (potential) risk areas.

Your responsibilities
  • Leading and managing the implementation of ABB's Global Trade Program in accordance with country regulatory requirements to enable standardization, optimization, and compliance for the region
  • Cooperating closely with staff in related domains to ensure seamless connection between overall trade compliance and day-to-day operations, including master data requirements, supplier qualifications etc
  • Ensuring development, implementation, and use of an efficient (communication) platform to drive trade compliance
  • Leading efforts to ensure that ABB’s imports are properly valued, including reporting to internal stakeholders and establishing systems and control checks to monitor ABB’s activities
  • Providing advice on the appropriate country of origin determinations, country of origin marking of imports, export controls and sanctions, as necessary, and monitors processes
  • Leading periodic self-assessment of trade performance and procedures (import and export processes, brokers activities and compliance) and drive the identification and follow-up on all corrective action
  • Providing country management (respectively Lead Business management), periodic updates regarding the status of the local trade compliance program and on significant changes in applicable trade regulations
  • Managing/supporting investigation of potential suspected violations by collaboration with other functional areas (e.g., Legal, Finance, HR, Internal Audit, Sales, etc.) in the issue resolution
Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field
  • Six or more years progressive experience in a regulatory compliance, Logistics or Supply Chain environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects or processes
  • Detailed knowledge of customs and logistics terminology and trade compliance. requirements (self-assessment), including Import, export compliance and supply chain security
  • Experience with free trade agreements and classifications under the World Customs Organization (WCO) HTS
