TEAM/PROGRAMME: CERDAS (Child-focused Evaluation and Research to Develop Actionable Solution)
Child Safeguarding: Level 2: either the post holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or the post holder will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore, a history related to criminal record check will be required.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
Save the Children Indonesia is a thought leader organization who articulates what children say works for them and generates evidence about what works for children in its program implementation and policy influence/advocacy. It is in its journey to becoming a centre of excellence for children wellbeing; therefore, it established the Child-focused Evaluation and Research to Develop Actionable Solution (CERDAS). CERDAS is envisioned to be a business unit to conduct and commission assessment, research, evaluation to ensure high quality evidence and knowledge available to drive innovation for sustainable impact. It provides services to Save the Children programs and organizational needs in the Country, regional, and global as well as to external markets, including government, peer NGO/INGO, and corporate sector. The primary role of the Business Unit Manager will be to plan/design, manage and evaluate CERDAS portfolio in order to ensure CERDAS sustainability financial capability and operation.

Reports to: CERDAS Operation/Technical Lead
Closely collaborates with SC Board of Executive, CERDAS taskforce, SC New Business Development team, and she/he will be part of CERDAS core team

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Strategic planning: Identify and Design CERDAS Business Model
- Support CERDAS core team and SC New Business Development Team in identifying and developing feasible and approachable CERDAS business model across the determined milestones for CERDAS at both unit and project level (research, evaluation, and assessment/REA)
- Develop business plan and other strategic documents complementing the business model as a strategic guideline for CERDAS and other departments within SC Indonesia
- Regularly update the business model and strategic documents (point 1.1 and 1.2) accommodating CERDAS business unit progress, achievement and challenges
- Identify and engage strategic individuals to become board of advisory (e.g., SC global networks, academicians, practitioners, policy makers,)
- Identify and initiate strategic partner-research agencies to accelerate and boost CERDAS experiences and exposures.
- Define pricing standard for various types and scales of services offered by CERDAS, and regularly review updating current market and organization condition
- Prepare all communication & introduction materials of CERDAS both to internal organization as well as to external stakeholders.
- Be creative in building CERDAS portfolio including in actively looking for business opportunity outside Save the Children Indonesia, engage in related communities/groups, and marketing CERDAS services
- Contribute to developing REA project proposal, primarily focus on unit and organizational capacity statement, rapport building and budgeting.
- Lead the negotiation of mutually acceptable agreements and manage ongoing business relationships with clients (SC projects and external) as well as with partners.
- Identify progress, key issues, and potential risks of the ongoing CERDAS projects,
- Regularly communicate and work with related parties in updating progress, solving the identified key issues and manage potential risks (point 2.2.)
- Monitor and evaluate projects achievements including (but not limited to) project and financial targets and accountabilities
- Be responsible in delivering project and unit financial forecast and reports in accordance with SC SOP.
- Manage and monitor project and unit cost in line with the budget plan
- Upon the completion of each project, share learning points from project implementation with CERDAS core team and the related parties for business model improvement
- Collaborate with the related parties to improve CERDAS business model informed by the completed project and experiences.
The post-holder may be required to support lend support to activities beyond the scope of this job description. This will be discussed and mutually agreed with the line manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE * Master degree in Economics, Business and Administration, Finance or relevant field.
- Experience in marketing designing, implementing and managing new business unit (experiences in research business unit is preferable) ,
- At least 5 years of experience in business modelling, financial forecasting, and budget control
- Excellent communication to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner with an eye for detail and composition.
- High level of fluency in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to perform both individual and team works
