PURPOSE
- Provide quality and efficient legal support, working closely with and as a business partner in Indonesia and across other jurisdictions as needed, advising on areas of law, including contract law, employment law, law on distribution, sales and marketing of pharmaceutical products, legal questions related to the access to markets, pricing and reimbursement as well as data privacy questions and corporate law matters.
- The candidate will be the first point of contact for the General Manager and the leadership team of the assigned cluster / country.
- The candidate is expected to be able to work in close cooperation with other corporate and support functions, such as IP, regulatory, compliance, data privacy, medical and quality assurance.
- Serves as a key advisor to local operating company (LOC) General Managers.
- Provide best practice legal support, working closely with and as a business partner to the commercial teams in Indonesia.
- Advise on commercial transactions -- applying law and appropriate policies to review, draft and negotiate various commercial agreements relating to distribution and promotional activities and related cooperation with third parties.
- Provide training to the members of the commercial organization in Indonesia on relevant legal matters (e.g. on templates, processes and new legal developments).
- Provide legal support to the corporate governance of LOCs within APAC, management of corporate approval processes, maintenance of corporate data bases and of an electronic contract management system.
- Collaboration and coordination with members of specialist legal practice groups and business functions including Business Development, Operations / Quality, Procurement, Vaccines, and Data Privacy on matters concerning the GEM Region; and some support to the R&D organization.
- Travel to various meetings or client sites, including overnight trips and international travel will be required.
Education and Experience
- University degree in law from a university in Indonesia and qualification as a lawyer in Indonesia. Legal qualification from another jurisdiction (e.g. Australia, Singapore, UK or US) can be considered in case of long-term working experience advising on legal matters in Indonesia and across multiple jurisdictions within the Asia Pacific region.
- Minimum of 4 -5 years of post-qualification experience.
- At least 2-4 years of practical work experience in a multinational company or reputable international or top tier local law firm advising on matters of corporate, commercial and contract law.
- Strong drafting skills.
- Excellent command of and proficiency in the English language.
- Good communication skills.
- High familiarity with standard office software and electronic contract management systems.
- Relevant experience in working for a Pharmaceutical or Biotech company is advantageous.
Leadership
- Solid legal theoretical foundations and good judgment.
- Experience working within a complex organization and building strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Autonomy to make decisions at LOC (country) level on best legal assessment and legal management of risk on daily basis. Matters for escalation to Head of Legal, APAC to be decided.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate legal issues efficiently.
- Team-oriented and cooperative, possessing cultural sensitivity.
- Practical, determined, business-minded, customer- and service-oriented, able to function well under pressure and with high workload.
- Developing new ways of working with stakeholders to provide efficient legal support to the business.
- Identify areas for process and systems innovation and implement change that will enhance the overall effectiveness of the team.
- Capability to work across jurisdictions with complex and complicated regulations.
- Capability to work in a matrixed organization and within GGC organization with Region and Global.
