Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Regional Service Manager Asia, the position of Regional SHEQ Manager Asia plays a key role in supporting the Indonesian Philippine and Mongolian operations to comply with WHS and Environmental legislative requirements, Weir SHE Standards requirements, implementation and maintaining ISO certifications. The role will build a proactive, productive and inclusive workplace culture where the safety and wellbeing of our people is our number one priority. The position will also support the Asia sales and aftermarket teams in Malaysia, Australia and Vietnam, including and visits of employees to other countries within the region.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this role include (but not limited to):
- Partner with, and coach leaders, managers and employees in understanding and achieving their responsibilities in the effective implementation of the WHS Strategic Plan and Key Performance Indicators
- Provide leadership and advice that supports and encourages leaders, SHE committees (where applicable) and employees to create a continuous improvement culture and implement best practices SHEQ management systems in their workplaces
- Support leaders in monitoring, analysing and investigating reported injuries, incidents and near misses and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken in consultation with the Senior Leadership team and other stakeholders to minimize risk
- Analyse safety metrics and produce related reports for mangement’s review to minimize risk
- Support site safety training in conjunction with the business unit requirements including conducting site safety inductions (where required) & other key SHEQ training
- Manage Return to Work Processes and ensure the business is compliant with local legislative requirements
- Management and coordination of SHEQ activities across sites within the Region
- Deploy the global/divisional/regional SHEQ strategy and standards in sites to achieve excellent sustainable results
- Develop, deploy and implement plans to improve workplace health and safety and environmental compliance
- Work with regulatory bodies on ensuring the operations meet all local and national legal standards on occupational health, safety and environment
- Support the preparation of safety incident reports, conduct investigations and ensure appropriate corrective actions are identified and implemented to prevent recurrence
- Support local management to increase SHEQ awareness among employees through communication and training
- Participate in internal and external audits as required
- Manage the SHE risk register
- Implementation and maintaining of ISO 45001 – Safety, ISO 14001 – Environmental & ISO 9001 – Quality

- Being able to coordinate SHEQ activities effectively and efficiently across the region due to the distance between locations and conflicting business unit priorities

To be successful in this role, the incumbent will require:
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in WHS
- Tertiary Qualifications in WHS
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across the business
- Previous experience with ISO assessments and implementation
- ICAM investigator training
- Auditor training
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment
Essential
- Demonstrated ability to provide expertise, coaching and advice across a wide variety of SHEQ and wellbeing matters in a global company working within heavy industry
- Knowledge of WHS and Environmental legislation, regulations and best practice
- Strong customer focus and ability to build robust relationships at all levels of the business
- Experience with facilitation and presentation
- High levels of flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
